JOHN RYAN

 Peter Hawkins, voice artiste extraordinaire, was associated with illustrator John Ryan on two projects.

The first was when CAPTAIN PUGWASH came to the television screen in 1957. This character had first appeared in 1950, in a new boys' weekly comic, EAGLE. John also provided for this legendry British comic 'HARRIS TWEED' and 'LETTICE LEEF'

Between 1957 and 1974, around 60 Captain Pugwash stories were made for television, each with a duration of 5 mins.

This book printed a few years ago by Ted Smart Publications. 
Lacking in useful information, it contains three stories from 1983 ~ 1985:
The Secret Of The San Fiasco * The Battle Of Bunkum Bay 
The Quest Of The Golden Handshake

 

The second project that voice artiste Peter Hawkins collaborated with illustrator John Ryan, was when the cartoon series SIR PRANCELOT was made in 1971~'72. This enjoyed a run of 32 episodes, again each with a running time of 5 minutes.

John Ryan was also the creator of the young children's television programme MARY, MUNGO AND MIDGE, from the BBC Television series 'WATCH WITH MOTHER'. Only 13 x 15 minute stories were made for this series.

 Sadly, Peter Hawkins passed away in July 2006.
Although not a comprehensive study, his memory will be everlasting here!
