There is something strange about these notes. For example, of the 7 x $5 with
the # 4763,
one has been been overwritten in pen (printed) 4963, and another 4768. The first
printing had a
faint #, so It appears that the number was misread, indicating at least a 2nd
and 3rd printing.
The same applies to 5 x $10: initial #45954, then inked #45956 + #45986 + #48987
(4 variations!).

| Re BROOKE BOND. In the early 1960's, I
went to our local Methodist hall when the Brooke Bond company ran their "road show". All I can remember is watching a
couple of cine films on chimps, and each child being given a set of their current tea cards. Well, actually,
quite craftily, it was 50 cards, but one number was repeated, thus one card short to be a complete set...
get the picture? Did you attend similar? If so, I would be interested to hear from you any further information, especially if you have knowledge of any promotional items that were given out at these shows. |
