ORIGINAL 7" RECORD COMPANY
SLEEVES
No records sold on this web site are sent out with
reproduction** sleeves. 90% of the singles listed
that are priced £4 and up are housed in the original record company sleeve. Prior to the Punk era,
very few UK issues
included a picture sleeve. Also, in the early 70's, EMI used plain white
sleeves.
Available for purchase are some original sleeves;
Columbia, EMI, London, PYE, etc.
A list is now set out on a Company Sleeves
page.

ORIGINAL LP INNERS
-
|
90% of the records sold on this web
site come with their original inner sleeves. Surplus to requirements, a selection of inners are available for sale: CBS, Decca, EMI, Golden Guinea, HMV, PYE, etc. (no Apple or Vertigo!)
Also, a few BBC Transcription Service sleeves; 1970s with green logo, no header. There is no ready list available, so please email your specific wants. If you are not converse with UK sleeves, let me know the LP/s that you are wishing to house: artist, year, and record number. It is not necessary to state the title/s. You may purchase original LP Inner Sleeves on their own, but as per 7" sleeves, the price for each will be more if not ordering records listed on this site at the same time. It is time consuming to provide the correct inners. Therefore, If not purchasing at least £45 that is listed for sale, then each Inner required will be at least £6 (depending on which company/ date), with a minimum purchase of 4 units. |

RECORD CLEANING
Record cleaning cloths, fibre tip brushes, sprays, etc. What are you using?
|
These aforementioned methods of what you
think is cleaning your vinyl, can actually do more harm than good! What happens, is that some of the light surface dust
will be removed, the remaining dirt being spread out, and pushed down into the groove. After
cleaning a record, if you inspect the vinyl close up with a good eye glass, you cannot fail to
perceive the evidence! Having personally washed several thousand records over the years, using warm water and washing-up liquid (which is a far more effective process to clean vinyl than as above), I have established that the following to be conclusive for determining the most effective way of cleaning vinyl records. |
| A strong vacuum, and a
bi-directional motor, ensures that all excess particles are removed! Isopropyl Alcohol mixed with purified water is used as the cleaning agent. Dirt trapped on your records will impair the sound quality, which, in turn, can eventually result in groove damage, not to mention knackering the stylus! Suction is the only proven positive method for record cleaning that will guarantee to remove the visible dirt, and also grime that you cannot see! In most cases, it will be noticeable that after having the record cleaned by this method, the sound reproduction on playing, will have been improved somewhat. Obviously, the better the hi-fi equipment, the greater the end results! Please note that each record is cleaned to the highest possible standards that can be attained. Any single, EP, or LP ordered, that is priced at £15 and up, will be cleaned by the above process prior to dispatch. EP records are stored in paper sleeves, as standard practice. Following the cleaning of an LP, the vinyl is housed in a new white paper sleeve. The album's original inner sleeve is placed back inside the jacket. All records are handled with the greatest care! |

VALUATIONS
| It has become apparent that true collectable vinyl in best
condition is now elusive. Therefore, the actual cost to replace stolen or destroyed precious records can
be expensive, bearing in mind that in many cases, it will be more than a
"listed" price in a record collector's guide. Insurance is not a problem, so long
as you ensure that the company that you wish to deal provides the correct type of
cover. An independent and honest valuation service can be provided for such. The most economical way for the client, is to compile a list in alphabetical order, of each record in their collection, grading the sleeve/ record. Then, when the collection is viewed by a reputable dealer, that the insurance company deems suitable, a swift appraisal can be assessed, and the final assessment put in writing. So, first contact an apt insurance company, then approach a record shop or dealer within your area. Ensure that their knowledge is within with the scope of your collection. |
