In response to EMI's HARVEST label, and Phonogram's VERTIGO label, PYE Records formulated the DAWN Label in 1970.  Some interesting albums of the avant-garde/ alternative jazz, folk, and progressive rock genre were issued, with many achieving only moderate sales figures, thus locating some titles can tend to be somewhat elusive!  Also, comparable to the aforementioned two labels, several of the gatefold sleeves do boast some outstanding exterior designs, with Fruupp's "Future Legends", "HMS Donovan", and Jackie McAuley being 3 fine examples.

 As there were several label designs during the output 1970 to 1976, each issue listed for sale has been signified as:
or = orange with small logo at 12o'clock (1st); pu = purple with small logo at 9 o'clock  (2nd); sr = semi-circle sunrise logo with light colour label (3rd ~ depicted foot of this page). This information is of interest to the labelologist / collector of variants, as is...

Circa 1970 ~ 1975, PYE Records issued their albums employing three different shades of vinyl: black, brown, and red, with brown and (wine) red being evident only as such when the disc is held up to a strong light.  This can be found on PYE's subsidiary labels, such as Casablanca, Dawn, and DJM.  As far as I am aware, the Dawn label LPs exists only with either black or red vinyl.  So for the completists, also within the listing below, it is indicated on each issue as to the vinyl's colour: bl v = black;  wr v = wine red.  Please note that this observation is not to be confused with albums that are apparent as 'coloured vinyl' on first glance; yellow "Yellow Brick Road" or red Kiss LP's being good examples.  Anyway, these were issued post 1976.  Still awake?....
