BUSTER BOOK
Originally, Buster comic was of the "old school" format, with basic cartoon jokes and strips,
some of which incorporated well known radio and television comedians, plus adventure stories,
but in strip form. However, the latter years saw the demise of any effort put into the content,
 now being an all silly comic, having incorporated with the likes of WHIZZER & CHIPS and OINK!
(these and similar now listed on page 3)
Cover dated, this was a "budget" publication, having a sot cover. Modern issues do
  have hard covers, but content is poor, having low grade paper, and lack of colour.

Launched in 1964, WHAM! being Britain's first comic to accommodate a wealth of diverse characters within one publication, as opposed to pretty "tame" cartoons, courtesy of Leo Baxendale's BIFF, THE TIDDLERS, GENERAL NITT, PEST OF THE WEST, & GEORGE'S GERMS.  This was followed by SMASH! in 1966, and POW! in 1967.   It does seem that if one is not part of the D.C. Thompson clan,  the inevitable happens.. a merger within comic titles befalls, as eventually did with the three aforementioned.  Of course, other artists and acts were included, as well as superheroes THE HULK, BATMAN WhamBatmanFreeGift.jpg (45798 bytes), FANTASTIC FOUR, JOHNNY STRAIGHT, SPIDERMAN, NICK FURY, etc, but these stories were reprints taken from various other sources.  Still, they were great innovative comics for their time.
